Ship wheel thing

I'm not super happy with the way this turned out... Maybe someone out there will like it.

Happy tree

Not so happy creator though. I put off doing this for too long. It was very time consuming. But it's done.

Not much I have to say with this, hopefully within the next few days I can post some stuff about an exhibition.

Last minute drawing

I managed to start and finish a piece in a day, which is rare... I wanted another digital piece to put in a local exhibition and the deadline is getting pretty close...

Initial sketch

Sometimes I get bored doing lineart and put down some base
colours.

All lineart finished

And then it's pretty much just colouring and irritation with shading from there
on...

Well that's another thing out of the way for now...

Old vs New

Not really much explanation needed here, just getting some picture finished before the end of this month...

Old pictures are marked as 2012, and the new ones are 2014.

Splashing paint on paper

One of my new favorite things to do as of recently is grab a bunch of watercolour paints and throw them at a piece of paper. When I have cleared up I was just left with a mess of dripping paints on a sheet, that wasn't enough.

So I broke out the pencils and fine liners and got to work...

I chose an animal that had large areas of black to do all kinds of weird patterns
in. Fun yet time consuming.

I didn't intend on doing a second piece like this but I did quite enjoy doing
the first one and I got a positive response back from people I showed it too.

Sketching the animal out first, I try to focus mainly on the outline and dark patterns of the fur (or whatever I choose at the time). Rubbing out the initial sketch lightly I can then go over the 'final' lines with a 4H pencil. Then I go crazy with paints and normally make a huge mess of water everywhere. After the chaos is over and the paint has dried I can get to work using the 4H pencil again to draw the patterns on. Then it's just a matter of using fine liners, normally 0.2 - 0.1 sizes. And that's pretty much it.

I have an art exhibition coming up soon in a local cafe, which I hope to try and sell these pieces (and other things... hopefully). So I guess it's time for me to stop being lazy and try finish some half-done works.

Watercolour Postcard

I've been wanting to get back into drawing dogs for some time but never really had any ideas. For my birthday I got some watercolour postcards, so put these two together and you get some work finally being done.

After searching around I found a rather interesting looking breed,
Pharaoh Hound.

Taking inspiration from Ancient Egypt, the sketch.

Line art.

Starting to paint it, I don't normally use watercolour so it's not my strongest
point.

And finally, darkening the lineart and adding a background it's finished.
I have a whole list of breeds I'm going to be painting soon, motivation willing...

'Red' Panda!

...
...

...Well I thought it was a funny idea!

I've had a sketch for this in an old pad for a while now and only now I've had the motivation to get on it.

Originally there was meant to be red pandas looking confused buuuuuuuuut sadly they didn't make it to the final cut...
Trying something slightly different I have uploaded a video showing some work in progress, though it had to be kept short as I was very quickly running out of disk space.

That paint isn't going to come off for weeks I bet...

Paw print Necklace

Just a quick post about something I did a few weeks back, as right now I've set myself too many pieces of work to do at once... again...

I've had some jewelry making stuff about the house for a bit and I finally decided to try make something with it, going in head first with little knowledge about jewelry making.

Using polymer clay and some spare thread I had left after doing cross stitching some time ago I managed to put something together...

...And it hasn't fallen apart!.... Yet....

Working on paper - Robot Heart

I've had a tough time deciding on what to draw, and then getting angry when I can't visualize anything so I recently had a look through a few old drawing pads from 2012. There were still a fair few drawings that I really liked, though looking back half were unfinished and the other half I could see some points for improvement. Gathering up 6-10 pages full of these I am currently attempting to re-draw them, with whatever knowledge I've gained in about a year or so...

...Also I needed an excuse to use the new Copic sketch markers I got...

This is the only real WIP picture I have of this
one.
Showcasing all the markers that I used.

And finally scanned in. Both pictures have been marked with a date.

Hopefully more of these to come in the next few weeks.

Stitched heart

About a year or so ago I drew a heart sewn together, I'm going to guess it was inspired by the amount of cross stitching I was doing at the time.

If I remember correctly I was drawing this in a class when I wasn't paying attention haha ^^
Looking back at it now I still liked the design of it still, but the quality of it was not... very... good...
So moving stuff around slightly, and totally re-inking and re-colouring everything I ended up with a result I was much happier with!

Feather hair

After having a month of hardly any motivation or ideas for drawing I finally got something. I was listening to some Florence and the Machine for the first time in some years and I thought of a nature themed piece that was going to be a vector style piece. What I was originally aiming for was one of those hair flip things in water, something like this...

But after trying to draw it out, it proved to be harder than first thought (not helped by the fact I was using a new program 'PaintTool SAI')...

So instead of throwing it away another idea came to me...

Trying to form more of a shape for the 'parrot
like' hairstyle, along with trying to
add new colours to the face and neck.
I actually had the sketch of the head from
another abandoned drawing idea, lucky
in the sense I didn't have to draw a head
again :) Pretty much putting down some
base colours here.

I worked on the face mostly as I began
because I was dreading when I had
to work on the hair properly...
Finished mostly on the face, added piercings
because piercings are awesome.

I'm no pro at this program or drawing feathers...
Put the two together and you get this...
They more look like leaves to me, there's
always room to improve.

After struggling through the rest of the hair I added some effects in Photoshop and edited
the brightness in places until I was happy with it.
And it's finished!
